Overland Unlimited, Bridge of Hope “Warrior Survival School" provides military resilience training to active/retired military and first responders. The curriculum is based on the book Finding Balance written by Pamela Woll, in conjunction with the US Marine Corps and Navy Combat and Operational Stress Continuum Model. The mission is to educate service members, veterans and civilians about combat or operational stress (COS) and its long term effects. Topics discussed, include resilience, the way the body works, the impact, stress chemicals, training and ways to get the stress system in balance. The goal is to promote long term physical psychological health (PH) and well-being for service members and their families. Participants leave the Warrior Tour with a better understanding of COS its causes, symptoms and how to optimize their stress system.
The methodology behind this approach is based on research that indicates that getting warriors into a restorative * natural environment and having guided group conversations about COS around a campfire creates a brotherhood and can take someone who is feeling hopeless and overwhelmed to a mental place of renewed hope and motivation to overcome their problems.
